Working your breath from the base of your spine all the way up through the top of your head, your life force energy concentrates in your center finally bursting outward. This energy is a strong healing force.
After a week off, due to back strain, I was pirouetting (turning), hair down flinging around my face when I became acutely aware of my breath. The flow of breath... breath of life releasing and contracting throughout the body filling the body with life. Magic. Energy. Life. This one simplistic reflexive movement. This one sweet function, inhaling and exhaling. The ancients knew breath cleanses, manifests, brings life forward, expands universes, creates, moves the body, and heals.
Wearing my old vegan ballet shoes, a torn black unitard, warm chunky legwarmers, I closed my eyes, listening to my breath and my heartbeat. I began to move. Allowing movement to flow out of my body as music does an instrument. It didn't matter if my movements were dissonant, bold, or stunning. I was dancing my breath, following it's lead. Energy was building as it danced up and down my spine readying itself to burst through my center, releasing powerful healing.
You too can heal your body through movement. You don't need to be in a studio or a professional dancer. Be you, dance your breath.
The pulsation of life, which is to me, the pulsation of breath.
Vegan Peppermint Mocha!
Vegan Peppermint Mocha
I enjoy writing whilst warming my hands and senses with an excellent chai latte. This is inspired by the chemical ridden Starb**ks mocha. However, I like my lattes or mochas to be organic and natural. I also prefer to know what ingredients make up this delicious cup of yum. Please take what works for you and modify to your buds satisfaction. Enjoy now, in a few days this pumpkin will turn into peppermint!
1/2 Cup almond milk (or soy, coconut...)
1/2 Cup hot coffee
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
1/8 tsp Peppermint extract
Sweetener to taste (monkfruit, coconut sugar)
1. Pour almond milk and cocoa into a saucepan whisking together at medium-high until the milk begins to steam.
2. Remove from heat and add the hot coffee, peppermint extract and sweetener.
3. Pour into your favorite mug. Sprinkle any toppings, such as cinnamon, on top. Alas, yummy goodness! Mmmm enjoy!
